Ignazio Niosi obtained his BSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Palermo in 2019 and his MSc in Biomedical Engineering for biotechnologies, cells, and tissue from Politecnico di Milano in 2022.
During his MSc program, Ignazio participated in the Erasmus+ program at the Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal). For his MSc experimental thesis, he collaborated with the Biorobotics Institute at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna. After the completion of his MCs degree, he secured a scholarship at the Biorobotics Institute, within the Regenerative Technologies Lab where he worked on European bioengineering and regenerative medicine focused projects.
Outside the lab, he has passions related to nature, experiencing climbing, fishing, and trekking activities.
Ignazio has a background in biocompatible polymer synthesis and design. He can handle several tools and techniques, such as material design and characterization and biofabrication for tissue engineering. He worked in a regenerative medicine project aiming to regenerate cartilage tissue and contributed to the management of a work package within a project focusing on the fabrication of a silicon-based tip of a bio-actuated catheter. He studied warmed dip-coating and injection molding fabrication techniques and experienced tissue engineering and biocompatibility activities.
